Agra celebrates National Sports Day at Eklavya Stadium

Agra: National Sports Day was celebrated at Eklavya Stadium on Friday to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The event was attended by Union minister S P Singh Baghel, Fatehpur Sikri MP Rajkumar Chahar and Etmadpur MLA Dharampal. As part of the celebrations, participants watched a live telecast of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s address from Lucknow, during which he honoured 88 medal winners and handed out appointment letters to new assistant sports trainers. Congratulating the athletes, Baghel said National Sports Day honours Major Dhyan Chand’s unmatched service to Indian hockey. He highlighted state incentives for sports persons, including cash prizes of ₹6 crore for Olympic gold medalists, ₹4 crore for silver medalists, and ₹2 crore for bronze medalists. He also unveiled the poster of the upcoming ‘Sansad Khel Mahotsav’, which will feature sports such as powerlifting, badminton, wrestling, shooting, gymnastics and judo. Baghel said, “Today, India’s sons and daughters are excelling at the global level. From remembering legends like Milkha Singh in general knowledge, we have now reached the stage where our athletes are winning medals across the Commonwealth, Asian Games and Olympics.” He added that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav would help nurture future champions. MP Chahar recalled Major Dhyan Chand’s role in India’s Olympic gold wins in 1928, 1932, and 1936. He also announced plans to build an international-level stadium in Agra’s rural area to boost sporting facilities. Regional sports officer Sanjay Sharma said around 400 players are training at the stadium in indoor games such as gym, powerlifting, badminton, wrestling and shooting, while nearly 2,000 registered players are active in outdoor sports.

The mother-in-law screamed at the sight. People gathered in the area. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The incident occurred in Rahnkala village, under the Etmadpur police station. According to reports, the young man was in love with his sister-in-law’s sister and wanted to marry her. However, his family was against the relationship. Jyoti’s elder sister, a resident of Rahn Kala village in Agra, was married in Tundla. Deepak traveled from his home in Tundla to Rahn Kala village on his bike around 10 a.m. He reached Jyoti’s house around 10:45 a.m. His mother and sister-in-law were present. As soon as Deepak reached his in-laws’ house, he asked about Jyoti. Deepak’s mother-in-law asked for tea and snacks. Deepak expressed his desire for a cold drink. Agra police nab 5 members of int’l cyber fraud gang

Hindustan Times According to police, the accused used to operate through a WhatsApp group where they would get people to download an application by providing third-party links and then lure them into investment schemes in the name of IPOs to extract money. Hindustan Times Police said these accused, along with associates in foreign nations, would provide account details of Indian corporate accounts and SIM cards for people who were lured into stock investment trading and task jobs. Hindustan Times The arrested persons are: They were booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 3/5 and Section 66D of the IT Act, police said. Hindustan Times DCP (Agra City) Suraj Rai said that on October 4, an Agra resident filed a complaint alleging that he was invited to a new WhatsApp group where he was encouraged to invest in IPOs. Hindustan Times Since the app in question was not available on the Google Play Store, the complainant was given a third-party download link. After completing KYC and logging in, he was then asked to deposit ₹18.5 lakh into different bank accounts. He was eventually removed from the WhatsApp group when he sought his money back, prompting him to file a complaint with the Agra cyber police. On interrogation, it emerged that these five had been in contact with people engaged in cyber fraud in Cambodia, Laos, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. The accused woman, along with her brother-in-law, killed the innocent child and hid his body on the roof for three days.  On December 1st, the child’s body was found stuffed in a sack a short distance from their home. Police launched a thorough investigation. The investigation shocked even the police, who discovered that 8-year-old Raunak’s killers were none other than his own mother and uncle. They had murdered him to conceal their illicit relationship.  What is the whole matter?This incident took place in Nayapura village, located in the Pinahat police station area of ​​Agra. On the late evening of November 29th, an innocent child went missing while playing in front of his home. Following this incident, a massive search was conducted for 8-year-old Raunak, but he was never found. Disheartened, the family informed the police.  The police registered a case and began searching for the innocent child. Despite extensive efforts, no trace of the child was found. On the morning of December 1st, the child’s body was found in a sack a short distance from the home. The news of the discovery spread panic in the area.  A post-mortem examination revealed a murder. Various speculations were swirling about the deceased Raunak’s murder. Upon receiving information about the discovery of the body, senior police officers arrived at the scene with a force. The police took the body into custody and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The police conducted an extensive search but found no trace of the child. He added that the child’s body was found in a closed sack on the morning of December 1st. He had been killed by hitting his head. DCP East Atul Sharma stated that the deceased child’s mother and uncle were in an illicit relationship. The child had seen them in a compromising position. Trafficking racket busted by Agra cops, two arrested for ‘cyber slavery’

Unemployed youths from India were charged ₹3–4 lakh in the name of job opportunities abroad and sent to countries including Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, where they were reportedly “sold” for $3,000 – $4,000 per person to groups involved in cyber fraud operations — a practice officials call cyber slavery. Hindustan Times If the victims objected to the situation and sought to return to India, they were reportedly released only after paying ₹3 lakh. The racket was exposed during an investigation after complaints were registered with the cyber cell in Agra, police said. Additional Police Commissioner Aditya said at a press briefing that with the rise in cybercrime, cases of cyber slavery are also coming up. The case was registered and two arrests were made — Mohd Atif Khan and Ajay Shukla — under sections of the Bharatiya Nyayya Sanhita (BNS) relating to trafficking of persons, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. Police found that agents in India were sending job-seekers to Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam after charging hefty sums. One of the accused, Ajay Shukla, had sent two youths from Agra to Cambodia in November 2024, where they were transferred to a company involved in cyber fraud. When they objected, ₹3 lakh was demanded for their return, officials said. The ACP said that in various cases, victims sought help from the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which facilitated some safe returns. Authorities also revealed that Mohd Atif had been in Cambodia from 2022 until May 2025 and was alleged to have sold more than 50 such youths to cyber fraudsters there. Officials suggested the racket could be worth ₹500 crore, given its scale. Atif was arrested in Unnao, and Shukla was arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. A third arrest has been made in Maharashtra, with the accused being brought to Agra once court orders are finalized.
